As the weather starts to get warmer, more clients are asking me what to wear during our sessions. I thought this a better time than any to address our session attire and what to expect from a standard creative session.

There is no steadfast, concrete rule but your session is supposed to be about you: showcasing your personality and letting everyone know who you are at a glance. Wear items that you love (you know the items that get the most wear because you can’t stand to part with them) are the ones you should bring to our session.

If you’re not quite sure, answer the following questions:

WHAT ARE A FEW WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU?
Are you quirky? Classic? Artistic? Conservative? All of these can play a major factor in what your exhibit to the world. You may want to include a few signature pieces from your closet that best represent who you are now.

WHERE SHOULD MY SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Anywhere you feel comfortable but mostly, a place you identify with. Depending on the focus of your session, a local ice cream store (individuals/couples), the place where you met the love of your life (couples) or a nearby park (children/families) can definitely have an effect on how your session progresses.

HOW SHOULD I POSE?
Posing? Not allowed! Your images should capture you not something you’ve seen in a magazine (unless it’s really hot! lol). This is not a stuffy studio portrait but you will be guided throughout our session, this is the time and place to let go and be who you truly are.

BOTTOM LINE
If you love color, prints, patterns – whatever – show me. I want to see and capture the awesomeness that is known as you. There aren’t any restrictions or rules – well, just one – HAVE FUN!
